DAY 2 – FRIDAY 14: WINE ADVENTURES GALORE…
This morning enjoy breakfast and then time for a tasting with a difference!
Your first stop is Small Victories Wine Co., where you will learn all about the beautiful wines and the art of ‘crisp’ matching. Jules and Bec Ashmead – sisters-in-law, running buddies and great friends have worked together for twelve+ years, and know all about great wine. Together they decided it was time to team up and make a range of wines that they and their friends love to drink. Wines that are fun, fresh and modern; wines that are ready to drink right now; wines that are just seriously delicious! And this is what you will experience today.
Next stop Yalumba, one the oldest wineries in The Barossa. Yalumba is celebrating their 175th birthday in 2024 and sixth generation family member Jess Hill-Smith is going to be welcoming us for a very special celebratory tasting experience! You will also be hosted by Louisa Rose, head winemaker. During her 20-year career at Yalumba, Louisa Rose has become one of the world’s most respected winemakers. Lou is passionate about creating great Australian wine. She has forged an identity for Australian Viognier, winning multiple awards in the process, and challenged perceptions of Barossa Shiraz, all while leading her viticultural and vinicultural teams to ever greater heights.
Then it is time for an evening of delightful cooking at Casa Carboni combined with a gorgeous wine tasting with local winemaker, Belinda van Eyssen, winemaker and co-owner at The Cutting in the Barossa Valley.
Belinda joined forces with her husband Daniel to establish the sustainability-driven boutique winery in 2018, crafting award-winning wines from single vineyard sites across the region.
Belinda assumed the full-time role of overseeing the vineyard and winery in 2021, following a few years in wine regulation. With experience spanning twenty-three vintages, Belinda’s winemaking career commenced in her native South Africa, where she studied and gained experience in the Cape Winelands. Belinda continued honing her winemaking skills across the globe, from Sonoma to the Douro Valley, Marlborough, Bordeaux and Australia’s Langhorne Creek before establishing roots in the Barossa.
Casa Carboni is an Italian cooking school & enoteca/wine bar located in the picturesque town of Angaston in Barossa. Fiona and Matteo Carboni combine their extensive teaching skills, close relationships with producers, and love of Italian cuisine and European wine to provide an unforgettable gastronomic experience. Tonight we have the whole place to ourselves to enjoy this extraordinary, bespoke experience.
Back to the hotel for a great night’s sleep after a gorgeous day and to get ready for tomorrow!!

First to the amazing Turkey Flat, where you will be hosted by the fabulous Christie Schulz. The Schulz family have been custodians of Turkey Flat since the 1860s. They have continued with the legacy laid down to grow vines and make wines that suit the landscape conditions. Today Christie Schulz is the fourth generation of the Schulz family to become caretaker of this remarkable estate. Extensive viticultural research has been undertaken in the vineyards, allowing Christie and her team to sensitively blend traditional Rhône varietals which speak confidently of their origin, with the 1847 Shiraz vines some of the oldest in Australia the centre piece of our family-owned estate, playing a vital role on the Barossa Valley’s rich cultural heritage.
Then this evening, you are away to Lou Miranda, for a casual night of platters and wine. Great food and wine is best shared, and is central to the philosophy at Lou Miranda Estate. Named for their father Lou Miranda, his daughters, Lisa, Angela and Victoria run the family boutique Barossa vineyards, winery and cellar door with charming devotion to good old-fashioned Italian hospitality.
